Part of signing of the book by the author

The Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center in Arab American University - Ramallah - hosted a book signing ceremony entitled “The Anxious Intellectual Vs the Confident Intellectual” by the writer and academic Dr. Khaled Al-Hroub, the book was recently published by the Dar Al-Ahlia in Amman, Jordan, and contains 310 pages.

The book was launched in the attendance of the author, Dr. Khaled Al-Hroub, Chairman of Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center at the University,
Dr. Ayman Yousef, literary critic Dr. Ibrahim Abu Hashhash, Manager Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center Mrs. Rola Shahwan, members of the academic Staff, students from various master programs, a number of writers and intellectuals, and representatives of institutions interested in the culture.

Part of the Conference

The Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center at the Arab American University organized an academic conference in cooperation with the Polish Representation in Palestine on October held at the University Campus in Ramallah with the participation of Palestinians and Poles academics and specialists.

This activity is one example of the Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center’s many activities aimed to enrich scientific and academic knowledge for conflict resolution students & literature and cultural communication students, as it hosts cultural and academic discussions between students and civil society organizations and international partners. This conference was held on the same day that marks the 100th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Poland.

Part of the Lecture

The Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center hosted Dr. Ibrahim Freihat who is specialized and a researcher in many international conflicts and the head of the MA program in conflict management and humanitarian work at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and Georgetown University. Dr. Freihat presented in his lecture for Conflict Resolution and Development students in the course of Israel and the outside world, presented by Dr.

During his readings and analysis of the current political situation of the Palestinian issue within the regional equation and political trends, Freihat assured that the regional alliances based on the policy axes and the position of these axes in the main effective issues in regional politics, including the most important the Palestinian issue. Historically there was the axis of opposition, which includes countries that have a hardline stance with Israel.

Mrs. Rola Shahwan Direct Manager of “The Policy and Conflict Resolutions Studies Center” in AAUJ has declared that the Center has been granted a full donation of “Erasmus +”. Where about 874 projects in the Middle East and Europe are competing for this endowment and 64 projects on the Palestinian level. The project proposed by the Center under the title of: “Encouraging Scientific Research and enhancing the abilities in Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies” was selected.

This award is granted within “Erasmus +” programs recognized by the European Commission for Education, Youth, and Sports for the period 2014 till 2020,  recently Collaboration programs have been adopted between the EU countries and other different countries worldwide.

Part of the conference

The Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center at the Arab American University concluded its 1st annual conference entitled “Where do we go from here? Palestine between the Local, Regional and the Global”.

Over three days, local and international academics, political, and experts participated in the annual conference; the conference came out with a number of recommendations that enhances and enforces Palestinians to deal with the Local, Regional and Global changes.

The Internal Committee

There was an overall agreement among many speakers and participants in the conference that the internal division and its impact on the economic situation of Gaza negatively affects the Palestinian support from the nations and countries, as it facilitate the passage of deals such as "Deal of the Century"

Recommendation 1: Direct actions for the Reconciliations process and the reunion of all parties and lands regardless of the concessions of both sides.

Part of the second day activities

For the second day in a row

The first annual international conference entitled “In light of local, regional and international changes... Palestine where to?” activities continue in its second consecutive day. It is organized by the Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center at the Arab American University Ramallah campus. The activities included three sessions in which 12 local and international political and academic speakers participated.

The University Speech

The President of the Arab American University Prof. Dr. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, started the event by thanking all those who contributed in this conference success, on top of them the Head of the University Directors Board Dr. Yousef Asfour for his encouragement and support, the Chairman of the Conference Preparatory Committee and its members for their efforts, and the speakers for their contribution to enriching the debate.

The opening session of the first annual international conference “Palestine Where To?”

The Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center at Arab American University launches the first annual international conference activities, under the title “In the Light of Local, Regional and International Variables… Palestine Where To?” The three days conference will take place at Ramallah Campus, with the participation of politics, academics and both local and international experts in peace and conflict resolution.

The Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center at the Arab American University concluded its preparations for the first international conference under entitled “In light of the local, regional and international changes ... Palestine where to?” which will be held at the university's Ramallah campus, from 22-25 of this June.

The conference comes in harmony with the University's philosophy of positive interaction with national, social and political issues and the future of the conflict with Israel in light of the current local, regional and international contexts and variables. Thus, the Center invited some foreign politicians, analysts and academics to speak in its five sessions, present their views and contributions to the issues at hand.

The center welcomed the Irish representative in Palestine Mr. Jonthan Conlonthe who attended Dr. Brown’s talk.

On Tuesday 8th May, 2018 Dr. Browne gave a talk to the graduate students of the Conflict Resolution program. The title of the talk was: 'Contested Identities: Northern Ireland and the Promise of Peace,' this talk is part of a graduate course on “Identity and Conflict” which uses theoretical concepts of identity to analyze cases of conflict.
